They're just little stuffed animals. I've been practicing so I can make gifts for my friends' birthdays. [He shuffles some material out of the way so he can tug something out--it's a rabbit! Kind of lopsided, and the stitching isn't very neat, but still recognizable.]
Oh! How adorable. [ such a cute rabbit, no matter how the stitching looks. ] What a kind sentiment. It's a shame we don't have a proper calendar yet to keep track.

It'd be nice if we could find ways to celebrate everyone else's birthdays while we're here, too. Right now, I'm just going by the date we left back home and adding the days we spend here onto it. [He smiles wistfully.] I'm pretty sure it doesn't match up with this place, but I wanted to do something anyway. It's...my first year of being friends with them.

her eyes dart and she catches sight of a free chair, which she walks over to sit at with a soft huff. ]

[Zelda, so kind. It's hard not to smile warmly at her when she's offering her help like that, so that's exactly what he does.] I might need it um, later on. [With a soft huff of laughter, he ducks his head.] It might take me a while to get more skilled, but I'd like to eventually making clothes, too, like you are.
Oh, yeah! About the color. [This is important, so Izuku sets the material down for a moment.] I was wondering if it might be worth it, to go into the forest and track down the shadows that live in there. Both times we encountered them, they've stolen color from someone.
[ ah yes, she remembers their talk about it now. she crosses her legs and leans back into the chair, humming quietly as she contemplates. ]
I don't think it's a bad idea so long as there's a plan to it. I've never dealt with them the way you did, so you can speak to the risks better. I suppose the first question would be to consider the benefit to tracking them down. Do you have something in mind?
It's not exactly a plan yet. [Izuku mimics her, leaning back in the chair slightly.] I wanted to talk to you first, to see what you thought, too.
When the shadows came into town, they were able to mimic our voices. The first time we went into the forest as groups, the shadows one group ran into spoke to them, too.
[His voice lowers. He's not quite in full rambling mode, thankfully, and though he speaks quickly, it's still at least audible unlike when he mutters to himself.] I was just thinking, if we could find them in the forest and get them to communicate with us, there's a lot we could learn from them. If they take color from us, wouldn't that mean there's a chance they know what happened to the town? Someone I knew was able to talk to them before, but...the thing is, I'm not sure if either of us would be able to get the shadows to do the same for us. [Considering Ryoji's nature and all.]
[ speaking with the shadows isn't an idea she thought of, and it unsettles her truthfully. dark forces like them and her have never mixed, but she can recognizes her biases. she's made friends with people she would have never even thought to in town, so she tries to take izuku's idea with a fresh mind. it's... not easy for her, but she'll try. ]
Do you know why the shadows talked with this person? I'm... assuming they are no longer in the realm anymore, if you're not approaching them with this idea already.

I can't claim to know its effectiveness against the shadows, but I have a power of my own. One that seals darkness, comparable to a holy light. If things get out of hand, I can make my best attempt to stop them that way.
[ if they truly are a force of darkness, it would work in theory. but theory doesn't do a whole lot in the heat of a real battle. ]
It's... pretty likely they'll still attack us, yeah.
[It doesn't take much for Izuku to read her expression.]
Do you think it's worth the risk? He hesitates, and adds--] Normally, I wouldn't suggest something like this, but I'm getting the feeling that anything we want to learn will come with some kind of risk now.

I believe as long as the right people go, with a skill set that can overcome a dangerous mission, then the risks will be mitigated naturally. Even if dangerous, there are mysteries in the forest and surely answers too. This realm is clearly not just the size of this town alone.
