[ zelda comes in without much expectation, as she clears her mind of any of her own troubles and concerns so she can focus on dextera's. she steps inside, he made it there before her, and smiles when he greets her. ]

[ she stops and her smile drops, brow raising up and her mouth hanging open. did he just... ]
[ dextera nods, a little giddy, certainly pleased with himself for such a reaction. it feels even more special to show it to zelda, compared to others in the town, because of all the secrets he’s shared with her. ]

[ having his voice back… he doesn’t want to lose it again. ]
[ the power of the wish is no small thing. zelda had already heard of it through vriska and so that dextera could regain his voice makes a perfect deal of sense. but it's so jarring to hear him, and not in some memory either, so she has to take a few seconds to shake off the shock of it all. ]
That's incredible! [ she exhales, and smiles as she finally picks her jaw off the proverbial floor. ] I'm so happy for you. It's such a surprise but I bet it was even more shocking for you!
[ dextera had always been able to communicate with his brother through a strange kind of telepathy, so it wasn’t immediately obvious when he started using his voice.
now that he’s started, however, it’s hard to imagine stopping. ]
Do you? [ she asks curious, shoulders slack. ] I guess you've been without it so long, it's only natural for you to say that. Though I respectfully don't agree.
[ dextera is no less happy about his voice, but his expression changes to one of curiosity—a bright and honest kind, instead of the guarded face he always used to wear when questioning the things around him. whether or not he’s a different person is debatable, but he’s certainly more buoyant with his voice back. ]
[ dextera does feel lighter, at least. maybe it’s all a matter of perspective, and that’s a strange—but not unwelcome—thought. for as completely different as he thinks he is, it’s possible that he’s always been a form of “himself” to the people around him.
